Still
here!
It
has been a long time since the last update to the site. The
club is still here and we're still going strong. The current
status is that we're soliciting bids from concrete contractors
to have a new floor poured in the King Farm garage (If you
know of any good/reasonable ones, let
us know!). We recently held our annual meeting and re-elected
the same officers. Some members are also entertaining the
idea of entering into the world of HO modules. Please, drop
us a line or stop by. This summer we're meeting at the King
Farm site (when it's not drop-dead hot!).

Winter
schedule
Due
to the fact that the King Farm property is still not ready
for occupation, we are currently doing round-robin meetings
at members' homes in the area for our regular club meetings.
Please send an email to the RMRS (see Contact
info) in order to find details of when and where we will be!

Annual
Business Meeting Report
The
Annual Business Meeting was held. New officers were elected
including a new Assistant Superindendent and Board of Directors.
Another major decision was made to change the meeting night
schedule to accomodate members who cannot meet on the regular
Tuesday nights. Starting July 1, 2005 we will meet
on the Second Wednesday of the month. We will still meet on
Tuesdays the First, Third, Fourth and any Fifth weeks of the
month. Discussion of the progress on the King Farm
site was good. We are still moving forward with plans to renovate
the building and working with the City of Rockville to have
those plans approved. Stay tuned for more news.

MCMR
& GMRS merge to form RMRS
Maryland
Central Model Railroad and the Gaithersburg
Model Railroad Society have voted to merge and become
one organization; the Rockville Model Railroad Society!
We are currently going through the official steps to establish
this new organization with the powers that be. We are all
excited about the merger and are looking forward to what the
new organization will accomplish in the years ahead.

WE
HAVE A HOME!
The
Maryland Central Model Railroad Club has just secured a long-term
lease on new club space. The club's new home is located at
the King Farm Homestead site in Rockville, MD. The two story
detached structure provides space for a large layout on the
ground floorwith meeting and workshop areas on the second
level.
Work
will begin shortly on building out the layout room to provide
a comfortable, climate controlled environment. Layout planning
will commence shortly. We currently envision a coal hauling
railroad in the steam/diesel transition era serving south-central
Pennsylvania, western Maryland, and northern West Virginia.
Layout control will be provided via radio DCC.
Anyone
interested in obtaining more information can do so by sending
me e-mail. We're always interested in new members regardless
of skill level. If you live in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan
area, here's your chance to get involved in building a new
layout from the ground up!
Regards,
Tom Matty, President
Maryland Central Model Railroad Club
